Da Island Dogs: Global flavors, island style

On the surface, it may look like just another food truck parked in Freeport. But step closer to Da Island Dogs 242, and you’ll discover one of the most unexpectedly global foodie experiences in The Bahamas.

The concept? Gourmet, globally inspired dogs that fuse bold international flavors with a Bahamian twist. And trust us, these aren't your typical stadium snacks.

Created by Francoise Barr, a passionate homegrown cook with a flair for fusion, Da Island Dogs serves up signature hotdogs like the Korean pork belly dog, the jerk chicken mac & cheese dog, and the Eleutheran pineapple dog, each piled high with handcrafted toppings made fresh from scratch.

A hot dog tour of the world

The Korean pork belly dog is a savory powerhouse: thick-cut, crisped pork belly layered over a cheese dog, topped with sautéed onions, peppers, jalapeños, house-made aioli, and a hit of sriracha. With hints of hoisin and gochujang, it’s like Seoul meets Freeport in every bite.

Then there’s the jerk chicken dog, where Francoise marinates chicken for 48 hours in her secret jerk blend, before layering it over a creamy mac and cheese smothered hot dog in a fluffy bun and finishing with a spicy jerk aioli. It’s indulgent, bold, and seriously satisfying.

Her secret? Every topping is made separately, with love, then thoughtfully assembled to order, flavor by flavor. It’s not just a hot dog, it’s the world on a plate.

Whether you’re craving comfort food or something with a global twist, Da Island Dogs is a quick, must-stop in Freeport for hungry travelers looking to taste something different.
