Cat Island Rake ‘n’ Scrape Festival - Arthur’s Town Cat Island 

June 4-6th 

Labor Day weekend in The Bahamas is always action-packed with many events and activities to pick, choose, and refuse. This year, consider the melodious and body-swaying, Cat Island Rake ‘n’ Scrape Festival.

During the festival the island comes alive in a new way. Musicians of all genres hit the stage in Arthur’s Town, offering captivating performances. You will hear Gospel, Bahamian covers of popular songs and, of course, classic Bahamian music. The festival heats up every year with the Battle of the Rake ‘n’ Scrape competition, where attendees will experience rake ‘n’ scrape in its purest form. The excitement doesn’t end there, during the festival you can enjoy a live marching band, a fishermen and farmers market, the kiddies corner, locally-made jewelry, authentic straw bags and, of course, mouthwatering Bahamian food.

Pineapple Festival - Gregory Town, Eleuthera

June 5 - 6th


Relax your face, drop your shoulders, and imagine a vibrant golden pineapple, dripping with tropical goodness. Imagine its sweet fragrance and the explosion of flavor on your tongue as you consume it. Enjoying a ripe, home-grown Eleuthera pineapple, or “sugar loaf” as it is commonly called due to its rich sweetness, is such a life-changing experience that a two-day festival was created in its honor.

Add Gregory Town, Eleuthera’s Pineapple Festival to your calendar of summer musts. This festival will surprise you with all the creative ways pineapple can be consumed and repurposed. Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival - Nassau, New Providence

June 3rd - 6th

Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival beckons us to live freely in the moment through dance and music. This event requires a full tank of energy for the ultimate experience. All roads lead to the Grand Finale Road March on Saturday, June 6th, however there are many events, big and small, to get you in the Carnival Spirit.

The excitement begins on costume collection day, June 3rd, where eager participants can finally behold their elaborate and beautifully designed costumes for the Road March. Next, Carnival enthusiasts can enjoy the Dutty Crew J'Ouvert paint party, the perfect warm up for the final event. Nothing screams unlimited self expression like paint, water, soca, and community. Following on June 5th there are two pre-social events to choose from - Just A Lime and La Vie All Inclusive. If you’re looking for a chill, low-effort and guaranteed good time, then Just A Lime is your event. However,  if you want a luxury experience with premium offerings and exclusive services then La Vie All Inclusive is just for you.

The long-awaited day arrives next - the Grand Finale Road March. Whether you purchased a costume or not, you can still participate because Carnival is for the people. Feel the rhythm of that sweet, sweet soca and release your inhibitions. Connect with those next to you on the road; they are your family for the moment. All Andros Crab Fest - Fresh Creek, Andros

June 18th - 20th


One thing for sure and two things for certain, summer bears ripe tropical fruits and succulent land crabs! Make your way to Andros, a.k.a “Crab Land”,  for the annual All Andros Crab Fest and experience all things land crabs. One of the highlights of the festival is the culinary aspect. Feast on land crabs prepared in both traditional and unconventional dishes, both guaranteeing flavorful bites. The festival offers games for children, drinks for adults and live Bahamian music for everyone to enjoy. Attendees can also participate in various crab-related competitions such as the ‘Releasing of the Crabs’, where people race to catch as many crabs as they can within a timeframe. The art of catching crabs is a great skill and can be incredibly amusing to watch as well.

Strictly Yamaha Deep Drop Tournament - Bimini

July 10th - 12th

Head down to beautiful Bimini to participate in the 3rd Annual Strictly Yamaha Deep Drop Tournament. This fishing competition celebrates the skill of fishing and practices the catch-and-release fishing technique. The competition is a pay-to-access event and offers substantial cash prizes to those with the heaviest catches of the day. All anglers are eligible to register to partake in the excitement of the two-day tournament. Participants are required to adhere to all of the tournament’s guidelines, though, most importantly, anglers are encouraged to bond with their fellow competitors and create memories on the water.

Fisherman’s Festival - Spanish Wells, North Eleuthera

July 17th - 18th 

Located a few miles away from the main land of Eleuthera is the beautiful island of Spanish Wells. Though a little over two miles long, Spanish Wells’ close knit and fishing-centric community makes it the ideal location for its annual Fisherman’s Festival. The all-day festival is the perfect family event. With the day activities geared for children and the night’s entertainment for adults, there is something for everyone. Enjoy many native dishes, particularly seafood delights sold by vendors on the festival grounds. Exciting games, live music, sailing and fishing tournaments are all a part of the festivities. During the final night, the whole island stands in awe of the beautiful fireworks display on the beach. The twinkling lights reflecting on the water with Rake ‘n’ Scrape playing in the background make it a great summer event.

Cat Island Regatta - New Bight, Cat Island 

July 31st - August 3rd

Nothing says Bahamian culture quite like Regatta time.

Enjoy heated competition on the seas and the ultimate vibes on land during the 70th Annual Cat Island Regatta. The regatta, held in New Bight, Cat Island, spans across Emancipation Day, making it the perfect holiday weekend getaway. Regatta enthusiasts can enjoy A, B, and C Class sloop racing, a tradition that dates back centuries.

On the regatta site attendees can find an array of Bahamian food vendors to satisfy their taste buds. Live music will be played throughout the entire regatta, leaving plenty of opportunity for you to show off your hottest moves. Intricate arts and crafts made from local materials such as sea shells, straw, sea glass, and wood, to name a few, will be sold as well. August

82nd Rolleville Homecoming Festival and Regatta - Rolleville, Exuma 

August 1st - 4th

If you’ve never been to a homecoming, mark this one on your calendar. The 82nd Rolleville Festival is all about connecting communities, especially those with one of the most popular last names in The Bahamas - Rolle. The annual affair welcomes the return home of many Exumians and an economic boost.

On the sea, skippers will compete in various-sized sloops, showing off their best skills to claim the win. On land, you can find vendors selling an assortment of mouthwatering local dishes as well as beautifully hand- crafted jewelry and fashion items. There are games, bouncing castles, and even a fashion show  for kids to enjoy. Of course, no Bahamian festival is complete without live music.

You can rest assured your dancing shoes will get plenty of use at Rolleville’s Homecoming.

The Grand Bahama Island Restaurant Fest - Freeport, Grand Bahama 

August 1st -15th 

A relative newcomer to the social scene is Grand Bahama’s Restaurant Fest. This island-wide festival celebrates the culinary talents, innovation and diversity that Grand Bahama has to offer. Upon the festival’s fifth year, attendees can expect bold flavors and two weeks of unbeatable deals at various restaurants throughout the island. The festival begins with “The Taste of Grand Bahama”, which essentially is a food expo held at Port Lucaya showcasing unique food and beverage vendors; I know, a foodie's dream!

Throughout the family friendly expo, there will be live music, cooking demos, mixology competitions, face painting, samplings, and much more. This event aims to excite the palette and encourage locals and tourists alike to visit the many restaurants offering food specials for the festival’s two weeks. Last year was on another level, and this year promises to exceed that, so be sure to get a taste of Grand Bahama this August.
